Is this an indication of well fed? Over-feeding? Or could something else be wrong?

Is that after feeding?
Honestly im not sure but it doesnt look like a natural gut to me but I could be wrong, any change in behavior?

It WAS just after eating a few pellets we dropped in to distract the attack clown (hehe)-but he always looks really fat! No change in behavior...None of the other fish look or act different

Interesting. I cannot tell you what it is, but, my mandarin came down with similar "symptoms", mainly the huge belly (would still eat, swam around, alert). I am not sure what exactly killed the mandarin, but I can say he did get a tear in his belly and was leaking stuff. If your fish is a voracious eater, I would maybe try to not feed him as much. Maybe even put prazi pro in his food in case it is a parasite problem.

No, he was not like that when we bought him. He is quite a voracious eater. We feed once a day (a pretty small amount) - he seems to take large chunks. I will try Prazi Pro as suggested and keep an eye on him. I sure hope we don't have a parasite problem! Maybe fish can eat themselves into oblivion like people???

Since he's eating so well I too suggest soaking some food in PraziPro. No need putting excess stress on him by trying to catch him and putting him in QT.
Also could be he's not used to the food your feeding him. Especially the pellets. May have bound him up. You could try some peas. Skin them first though.

Usually, issue like these are an artifact of internal parasites.

If you can catch him, putting him into a hospital tank and doing a few rounds of prazi could be helpful.
