Just bought this coral and the seller told me it was a “purple whip”. But I’m have no idea. It looks like it’s shedding, and slimy. Water parameters are good. It’s in a 16g coral life biocube with led light. My torch also looks dead since adding.

looks like a gorgonia that has no polyps to extend, not sure what a purple whip is.

That gorgonian is about 90% dead. The sections that are black are just the core of the branches. Essentially the skeleton (though I'm sure that's not the exact term).

Don't know if that has anything to do with the torch but I'd pull the gorgonian at this point...

At best the torch is severely retracted. You could check to see if there is any green tissue inside. Did it look like that when you got it?

As RedSox81 said can you post your water params?

Sorry, but that gorgonian is toast. If they are exposed to air for too long this will happen. Torch does not look good either. I would suggest doing a wc asap, dying gorgonian can pollute a small tank like that quick.

Neither of those corals look like they will pull through, try a water change maybe. Post all your parameters....ca alk mag and sg

Both corals are beyond this world, are both new?! As far as your water parameters go, DEFINE "good", because you either bought two corals that were doomed before you paid for them, or your water isn't what you think it is, did you dip them or do anything before placing them in the tank?
