Is this heater placement safe? I bought the biggest preset fluval heater I could fit in the back of the all in one. However I’m fairly certain it’s touching the tube the pump flows through, and the wire that goes to the pump. The heater does have a plastic housing, maybe that helps. What are your thoughts?

I’m not sure how that overflow works but I always place my heater where it’s close to impossible to be dry…
looks ok to me

I've had someone tell me not to put it in the return pump chambers because the water level can drop in that one due to evaporation and if it drops too low it can burn out the heater. The intake or 2nd chamber would be better if you can fit it in there.

Thanks for the replies. unfortunately that’s the only chamber it can go in, it’s that or the display. In theory the water level shouldn’t fall, as there’s a hole towards the top of the chamber I believe is designed to prevent that. I think it overall reduces the flow through the media, but hey I didn’t design it ha ha. and so far from watching the tank water levels haven’t fallen in that chamber. That is a valid concern.

My main question was is the heater OK touching those cords and tubes, or would it burn/melt them

I would say that any brand of heater— in any configuration— you would indeed never want evaporation or any other condition to let it come out of the water (based on the “min.” line marked on the heater, if vertical).

As long as it stays wet it will be fine. As stated above, maybe try the other chambers that do not fluctuate water level with evaporation.

Just a word of caution. I bought a fluval, and it was not submersible. There was a line on it that I did not notice
