Is this my blasto reproducing, or is it a hitchhiker? This is my first blasto, and I dunno why but I always expected the heads to split rather than for it to sprout new heads.

Correct this is Micromussa lordhowensis, but they do reproduce in that same way.
Thanks! I've never been clear on the distinction between some of these species, ie. micromussa, blastomussa, acans, favias. There seems to be a lot of crossover and if you try to go by pics on the web, they all look alike.

Learning to tell them apart can be a little difficult at first. What is called "Acans" in the hobby used to be Acanthastrea lordhowensis, but is now Micromussa lordhowensis, what you have pictured above. So when someone says they have "Acans" it's actually incorrect people in the hobby just still use the old name. You'll get them down, just find some good places to study them. This has many of the recent changes.

I have the same thing going on. Cool. I have a question though. Can the new heads move? I was paying attention to a new head and one day I noticed it was about a half inch from where it used to be. The frag still seems to be glued down firmly.
