Just picked this guy up yesterday, he seems to be active and eating well, but tonight I noticed some bumps on him, and it's my first time dealing with something like this.

Kinda hard to tell since he's blue and the lights are so blue but it looks like it could be. These guys are really prone to this and they get bad and go down fast.
Any way to set up a QT?

Its possible, since its eating feed it as much as it will eat multiple times a day and keep the tank water prestine and it will fight it off and eventually become immune.
Other option is the dreaded quarantine tank treating with copper and going fallow in your dt for like 80 days.

yea most likely might be ich but post a pic with the white lights on...like someone else else said these fish are very likely to get ich especially if you didn’t qt before putting him in the tank

I have an empty 20 gallon running at my parents, my girlfriend convinced me to bring him over. Best course of action to treat?

Can’t give advice on disease but an app called aquarium cam takes out the blue if better pictures are needed. It cost 3 bucks I think but worth it if needed.

good luck with the PBT. They are my favorite tang

Get him to eat some garlic soaked nori or something or soak some food in selcon.
Treat quickly because these guys are fragile and can be overrun easily. If you need to catch and QT make it mellow and make SURE the QT is the same as the display when you start.
And a picture under white light might help me help you.

Thank you guys, here are some more pictures, have 2 clowns and a dotty back right now, worth keeping him or moving asap to QT? Blurry pics but he's a fast swimmer

Thanks for the better pics. Looks like it's just starting. If you QT like I said make it as low stress as possible. No net if you can. I see a cleaner in there yeah?
If they buddy up maybe.
Don't want everyone to get it but either way garlic, selcon and I'd say QT but only if the QT is at your house. Don't want to catch and drive that sounds stressful.

These guys have not evolved to have much protection from ick. Impact from ick to these is usually not sever enough to be fatal. This might be due to their larger size. Keeping them stress free usually ensures recovery. Feed often and don't add any new animals until fish recovers.

Thank you guys, ended up leaving him be in the tank after trying to get him out for a couple minutes. Ran to the store and bought some Nori with garlic, have Selcon coming Tuesday! Hoping for the best thanks again!

Here's an update, been using selcon and garlic nori and he's always been super active and constantly grazing on all the stuff in the new tank.

Bumps seem to have gone away, getting better by the day. No signs of anything in the two clowns and dottyback.

Happy guys the life of the tank so far!

Awesome thanks for the update. Happy days and take it slow. These are great fish that live for years. I know I loved mine. Peace.

Thanks again for the advice! It's the least I could do!
