So this powder blue has ich I think. Maybe something else. I'm looking to see if he's worth saving for $5. I have a qt at home but never tried saving a fish from any type of disease before. Looking for suggestions here. What do you guys think he has and what is the best way or process/medication to treat him with. He's skinny and discolored. Plus he's swimming in a upright position but he did eat a few pieces of brine shrimp that we offered him.
Thanks in advance
-K

Sorry but sounds like he is a on his way to fish heaven. What makes me believe that is the "swimming in a upright position" statement.

I've learned that Ich can affect a fish in many ways. Sometimes there is no effect, and sometimes it can wipe out a tank. Just let your fish be and see if he will pull through. Moving him and doing all that will just make the fish give up.

BTW, Powder Blues nickname is Ich.

Yes looks like Cryptocaryon irritans.

You need to do your research, there is a ton of available images and treatment regime right here on R2R.

If you do not think a $5.00 fish is worth saving then this hobby might not be for you.

Research on the fish type would have indicated to you that this fish type is prone to the parasite.

Good luck

I know that tangs are prone to ich. And I do wanna save him. That's why I'm asking these questions. I'm curious what has worked for others in this situation.

As previously posted there is actually a ton of information regarding Tangs and this particular parasite, let your friend know so they can do their own homework before buying fish.
