I was told that this is marine velvet or ich? I’m still new to saltwater but I wasn’t sure what it is? The clown was with a blue devil that i took out because it kept attacking the clown

Welcome to R2R!! It’s hard to tell in the pics if that is velvet or even the start of brook. I’m going to give you a link below so you can read up on them and see what matches best. Once you read up and get an idea of what your dealing with we can help you treat it. Can you get some better pics?
@4FordFamily
@HotRocks

1) does it appear to more white dots than you can count? (Velvet)
2) sloughing skin, mucous? (Brook)

Brooknella. They may respond to prazipro otherwise Furan should work

Yeah i woke up this morning and saw it dead, my other clown is still alive though and it’s eating fine and still fine swimming and hosting with the anemone. Should i still treat the tank? (Ps. I really appreciate it) @vetteguy53081 @Frtdrmrose7

Yes, especially if it’s brook brook is highly contagious and lethal I would recommend you start treating now. Can you set up a QT tank? That would be best. You’ll need to let the DT be fallow for 6 weeks. Here is a thread from Humblefish and it is what you need to do.

That looks like sloughing skin to me which would be Brook. Any fish in that tank will need to come out to be treated and that tank left fallow for 6 weeks

Not in your display, but yes you should still run them through treatment. The drug you want is not Furan but Formalin (pure Formalin, which is 37% formaldehyde). You should give them a bath and then transfer to your sterile QT, After transfer, another treatment period helps ensure you've cleaned them.

Formalin bath: 1mL/gal for 250ppm, for 30-60 minutes.

In QT prolonged bath: .1mL/gal for 25ppm, dosed every other day for 5 doses with 50% water changes inbetween dosing days, which makes a ten day treatment.

Aerate heavily with air stones in both the bath and in QT as formalin reacts with O2 in water. Good luck and I hope they do well.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it, i just realized my extra tank is cracked so I’m gonna go buy a 10 gallon for now and use that as the qt tank.

Yes you are entering the “ugly” stage. It will pass

You are on track my friend. Continue maintenance and do add a Few Clean up crew members to your tank to help control the uglies
