Hey guys, just recently picked these 2 guys up from an LFS this weekend... do I have ich?
The lion is acting pretty normal... the powder blue however is rubbing itself on my rocks

Ok, definitely ich on the powder blue. I think this is normal markings on the Lion. Of course the lion is in my FOWLR while the tang is in the to be reef tank... quarantine, quarantine quarantine! Dang me. I'll be pulling him out and treating him in my 30g planted tank... or should I treat the reef tank with something? I only have one zoanthid so far. Should I move it to the 30g quarantine instead?

Well you need to treat with copper...or CP which can not be used in a reef tank or a planted tank or any tank with live rock.

TTM is another option but if you put the fish back it will just likely get ich again because its already been in the DT. You would need to pull all fish and let the tank sit fishless for 76 days or whatever the rule is now.

Reef safe meds don't work so don't bother wasting the money. If it was that easy no one would bother to QT.

The powder is the only one with any signs... pull him now to the 30g qt and hope the others aren't all littered?

Thank you, looks like ich is common in tangs... I'm going to pull all the fish out over the next few days and put them in the 30g tank and treat them with copper... looks like 2 to 3 months to kill the ich.

Gonna be rough with all the rock. QT, QT, QT... I had even set up the 30g and then was like well, it's not cycled

PBT’s are ich magnets, don’t beat yourself up. GL catching them. I couldn’t catch my infected fish a few months ago :(

I'm going to up the meaty foods and soak them in selcon... ultimately though rather than just boosting immunity the goal will be to get them into the QT while still lightly stocked.
