I saw these white spots on the tails of my Foxface Rabbitfish six weeks ago. Since then, I gave it a freshwater dip and have kept it in a quarantine tank for the last six weeks and treated with Fritz CopperSafe. However, the white spots are still there. I would appreciate any advice- is it ich? Should I treat longer than the six weeks? Thank you.

Is that the only spot— and is it not falling off, even after several days?

But merely “assuming” for a moment your fish truly has ich, are you keeping the CopperSafe at a therapeutic the whole way through? (I would very strongly suggest a Hanna Checker, and never let it fall below 1.5 during treatment; 1.75 is probably a better place to be.)

Thanks for responding. The white spots in the pictures have stayed the same during the whole six weeks. And yes, I have kept the Coppersafe level at 2.0 as directed in the instructions.

Being on the tail, maybe it’s lympho, which I don’t think responds to Copper. Hopefully others more knowledgeable than me will chime in. But as for the Copper treatment, I believe after six weeks you now have to move the fish into another tank— or if it remains in the same tank you have to continue the copper treatment for 30 days. Check me up on that too. Best wishes— and by the way, that Foxface looks colorful. You should read some of the comments on another recent thread— I think it was called, “Does anyone have a Foxface?”

Again, thanks for your advice! I will look up the thread on Foxface. Take care.

It doesn’t look like ich IMO, more like a mild case of lympho. Stable water quality + good Herbivorous food will make it go away eventually.

Thank you. I am changing water religiously in the hospital tank and also providing seaweed every day so hopefully, these things will help soon.

What was the result of the FW dip? Any flukes?
Do the spots move around a bit?
Thanks for responding. No difference at all. I even gently rubbed the white spots during the dip but couldn't get them removed or even to shift.
