Hey Guys

Please can anyone tell me what is up with my tang?
I have been treating for Ich, pretty sure thats what it is, just double checking. I cannot isolate or remove the fish from the tank.
My tank is a few weeks old and right at the start of the ugly phase, I added a this tang and a small 6 line.
Over the last week I have notice a decent jump in nitrite, (2-5ppm). guessing my tank is going through another cycle as the tang and wrasse more than doubled the bio-load due to their size
All my other fish seem happy and all the fish are eating.
I am not noticing any out of the ordinary behavior (Not scratching on rocks or heavy breathing...ect)

1st edit Oh I do have a UV sterilizer and I am using Selcon and garlic in the fish foods

If you just ride it out, ich will still be present in your tank. Current and future inhabitants will be at risk for reinfection. The only way to rid your tank of ich is going fallow and treating the fish in a separate QT tank.

You could also try “ich management.” There’s a handful of people on here who don’t QT and simply allow nature to take its course. I QT everything, run UV, go fallow when necessary, and do my absolute best to provide the best environment I possibly can for my critters.

Ich management is popular but not worth the risk imo. It’s really just a matter of time before the fish get too sick to keep going.
The problem with reef safe meds is they are generally ineffective.
Is this a reef tank, do you have any inverts?

If you can point me in their direction, that would be amazing, I am not able to have a QT tank, don't have the means or the space to set on up.

Yeah I do, I have a Blood, skunk and 2 pistol shrimp as well as a few hermits and snails
In the future, I may be able to set up a QT but right now, its just not on the cards

I agree with @Sharkbait19 ich management usually results with quite a few fish deaths and ends up being cheaper to just buy a cheap petsmart 10 gal kit some copper meds and a test kit.

Also, ich parasites can/will increase in population to the point of causing serious harm.

If you’re looking for Ich management, look for threads and post by @Paul B

However I’m a firm believer in what @Jay Hemdal has to say about this subject.
