Is this leather dying?

I got these two corals several weeks ago and the one on top all of the sudden changed color and looks all 'stumpy'. Is this dying or going thru some type of phase?

It looks like it could be shedding, potentially to try and get rid of the algae growing at the base of it.
As for it changing colour, did it change because of your lighting or was it originally a different colour under the same lighting and only changed recently?

Looks fine. These guys will go through periods of shedding or just closing up for a while. Sometimes a long while.
Make sure flow is not hitting it directly, the light is not too bright, and nothing is picking at it. Looks healthy actually, just closed.
Make sure you have good water parameters as some of these guys will close up as an indicator water is a bit off. sometimes just because you looked at it funny. They hate hands in the tank too.

It was the same color as the leather pictured directly beneath it.

Hopefully just shedding - doing a water change right now.

You may find that actually your leathers are the same colours just one may be more washed out than the other. I have two kenyas that came from the same colony and one looks more washed out than the other.
