Greetings all. I have had this leather for several years and it is huge compared to when I got it. It has also been through several tank moves. It has been in the tank it is in now for at least 6 months. I was looking though some older pics and saw where it was more flat with longer polyps before. Is the cupping it is exhibiting due to too much light? I moved it to a lower light spot but my trigger didn't like it there so he pushed it back where it was. Don't block a triggers cave opening with coral lol. It looks healthy I just think it looked better with longer polyp extension and I'm wondering if I should maybe find a spot for it in lower light? It's attached to a single rock that can pretty much be

moved anywhere.

My guess would be that lower current would make the polyps extend more, but let's see what other options are.

Looks happy to me, stretching up for more light and more growth

I'm not sure it's possible to give leathers too much light to be honest. I have some in the very top of my tank that happily grow so they're poking just out of the water.

Leathers, especially sarcophytons, can take Acro levels of light, mine is in probably 250 PAR and it stretches up (and cups sort of like yours) as high as it can. I would either move it back where it was or place it even higher. When leathers get too much light they shrink down and deflate. They also like quite a bit of flow, it’s polyps should be in constant gentle motion.
