Is this little dude a sponge

Two of these guys showed up right after adding new live sand and nitrifying bacteria. Are they pineapple sponges? They are about 3/4" and on top of the sand bed. I haven't seen any on my LR

Doesn't look like a pineapple sponge to me. Additionally, I haven't seen them on the sand IME.

It does look like some sort of sponge. The closeup is pretty blurry. Can you get a clearer image?
