Is this macro algae or nuisance algae?

Little red kind of leaf shaped things. Attached on one end to the rock, floating on the other end. Nothing in my tank so far eats it (thought my emerald crab might but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him on that side of the tank. The only fish are a clown and a royal gramma. I don’t mind the look of it, but don’t want it to take over either lol.

Looks like macro algae to me. If its red it might be some type of gracilaria. I am not 100% sure what it is but wouldnt be too concerned if I found it in my tank. A lawnmower blenny might munch on it

Red dictoya also known as Red Devil. It’s pretty invasive, if you don’t like the macro algae look it can be a bit of a pain.

Yes, at this point I’m not too concerned but it is spreading. I’m still stocking my tank as it’s new but it’s 32g so I can’t throw a tang in there lol.

I plan on adding a Midas blenny, green clown goby, and two others yet to be determined. I don’t think any of my planned fish will eat it.

Dragon's breath maybe? If it is, it looks really cool, but could become a problem if nothing eats it. It did in my 29.

Maybe I’ll get that algae scrubber sooner rather than later. Or the UV sterilizer. Hmmm...which is better?

UV won’t affect the macro algae unfortunately. I would go hidrogen peroxide on it, as it’s still manageable, this particular algae doesn’t like blue light also.

Looks like Gracilaria Hayi to me. Mine grows slowly and is really pretty when it gets big. Not usually a problem getting too big. Just pluck it off and watch it slowly grow back. It turns darker red with less light and more pail with higher intensity light.

Cool link, thanks! I’d say it’s either that or the H. Floridana. I need to borrow a tang and see if they eat it lol.
