I started another thread earlier in which I said I was going to start ridding my tank of majano anenomes. At least I think they are majanos. My wife really likes them and doesn't want me do anything to them, unless I am sure they really are majanos. They look a bit different than the other critter ID pictures I've found, but I figured the members here will surely be able to help me out. These guys range from about quarter in size up to a silver dollar or maybe a little bigger, and have pink tentacles with quite a bit of green. They do look pretty at times, but they are spreading and I need to do something soon. Sorry the pictures kinda suck. Hopefully they are good enough, or I can try for better ones tomorrow.

They definitely look like majanos. Do you have a pic of one that is laid out flat? Majanos have a very distinctive transition from the tentacles to the mouth.

Thanks Steve. The middle picture is the best I have of the mouth area. I can try for better pics tomorrow night. Are you looking for a top view shot, or something different?

I bet she really likes weeds in the front lawn too...:):):)

Side or top is fine. As long as I can see the tentacles, the oral disc and the mouth.

I actually have a tank with majanos in it and a pair of sexy shrimp lol. Makes an easy to take care of office tank lol.

But if they are majanos and you want other things, they will need to go. And that one rock with a ton on it will need to be sold, gave away, or soaked in some water with a ton of kalk in it then cured.

And yes I said sold, there are odd people like me that buy stuff like that to do weird pico jars, etc.

Brad - Lol, no. I hear about that one all the time.
If she wants to keep them (if they are majanos), set up a 2.5 gallon tank for them. One of the so to speak all in ones. Cheap at a big box pet store. Do a solo cup water change a week. Drop some small bits of mysis in once a week. Make sure the tank has a somewhat bright led, and you have a 20 dollar or so species specific tank. Heck, you could even put sexy shrimp in there lol.

The good thing is that 95% of these anenomes are on a rock island in the middle of the tank, so I can easily remove them and either put in rock from my refugium or soak it like you say and eventually return it to the tank.

If they are majanos and put in the fuge, they will make it back to the display. Chopped up in a return pump, they can recover.

I like the idea, but I’m not really thinking about a other tank. I think I can convince her that they just need to go.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear. I am not going to put them in the fuge. I can take an existing clean rock or two out of the fuge and put it in the DT.

This was sold as a rock nem. Apparently bred from a few others in the tank (some were coloured) is this a rock nem or Majano?
