Is this method of raising dkh safe?

Currently running a 20g AIO.
My dkh is about 7.8

I took one tsp of Seachem Alkaline Buffer and mixed it in a 1 Gallon container to slow drip.

Thought this would be a small and reasonable amount. Did this about 3 times once a week. Haven't had any issues yet. But trying revive a candy cane and small acan with the dkh bump.

Wondering if this is still too quick of a boost.

Any thoughts?

Why do you think an alkalinity bump will revive anything, 7.8 is fine, I'd look at other issues first like messed up nutrients or contaminants and try to nurture them with spot feeding

No idea how much a teaspoon of that stuff will raise alkalinity, your picture doesn't say, but if you have tested alkalinity before and after and it hasn't risen dramatically, it should probably be fine

It was a stupid mistake on my part so I'm pretty sure I know what my error was. But ever since I've been stabilizing and raising dkh... I started to believe in miracles.. My candy cane has been coming back with some flesh!

Edit: found another picture of the package it says 1 teaspoon on 20g raises by 2.8dkh.

Spread out across 3 days, preferably more, that's more or less safe, faster, maybe not.

DONT dose until you get a pH you like as the package suggests, that's a recipe for Desaster. Measure your alkalinity and dose an amount that gets you stable to some value

Also the full 1 gallon slow drip takes about 2.5 hours.
I somehow overread this. And you did this 3 times in one week?

You say your dkh is 7.8, when was that last measured? After doing these drips?

The instructions say "Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for every 150 L (40 US gallons) to raise pH by about 0.1 pH units (this will also raise alkalinity by about 0.5 meq/L)."

You said you had a 20 gallon tank so the 1 teaspoon you add would raise alk about 1 meq/L. If you did this three times in one day that would raise your alk about 3 meq/L That is not a dKH bump it is a huge spike. 1meq/L = 2.8 dKH.

What is your current alkalinity?

Sorry for the confusion. I meant that I have done this a total of 3 times. It was about once a week. So 3 times in 3 weeks. It raised the dkh about .5 each time I did it.

That should have raised your alk much more then 0.5 dkh each time if the instructions are correct.
