Just unboxed a order of 4 bulbs from brs. 20000k 400w radium bulbs, one of the bulbs has a "plate" that broke off. Don't know why they there, or what they do.
Question is should I bother to go through process of warranty this bulb, or is it ok to use?

It looks like the plate was in the top area of the lamp. It would have been opposite of the one that is still there. I would ask this question in the lighting forum though. I’d also call or email BRS.

Also, make sure you don't touch the glass. The oils left behind turn brown, which creates a hot spot on the glass and causes the bulb to crack/blow.

agree, never touch a bulb with fingers

I knew not to touch the bulb, I was actually just holding the base part only in the picture. I guess I touchs the glass accidentally. But I'm sure rubbing alcohol wipe will do just fine even if you do touch it.

You’re thinking halogen, MH and HPS lamps don’t do that.

does it take that long for brs to respond to emails? i have emailed 2 times since this post and still didn't get respond.
