Hello reef community!! After loosing half my fish to ICH and/or Velvet I decided to pull all the survivors out and start a Hospital tank. I'm leaving my DT fallow till October.

I've been dosing copper in my QT since July 14th and have only lost two additional fish in QT, one being my favorite my Sailfin Tang..RIP.

On to the question. In the photos below I've noticed some discoloration on my Coral Bueaty and my Yellow Tang in he face area. I've planned on doing copper for 30 days. Should I be concerned and stop treating copper in favor of some other treatment or just ride out the copper treatment?

There has been no loss of appetite in either fish since they acclimated to copper. They are both still active during the day.

It's a 40 gallon QT. The only parameters I've tested are copper and ammonia which is zero.

I did the best I could on the photos. They were all over the tank.

Bonus question anyone know what the black spots are on the cleaner shrimp. I've had a pair them for six months and each of them get it. They come and go with each molt

Any and all advise is appreciated.

This does appear to be HLLE.

Are you soaking food in vitamins like selcon, Vita chem, or Zoecon?

Zoecon seems to work best for HLLE.

What type of copper are you using? What level, what test kit?

I will start soaking my food in vitamins. For copper, I'm using Cupramine. Testing with a Salifert test kit and the levels are right around .5.

Thanks for your response.

Should I remove the copper?

Sounds like you are good on Cu level, I would stay the course on your copper treatment.

Sometimes this is just a side effect of copper. Best you can do is feed them a variety of high quality frozen foods soaked in vitamins, as well as offering nori to graze for 3/4 of the day. Pristine water will help as well. Most of the time it will heal.

Once again thanks for the advise. I have been treating the tank with Selcon and the fish seem to be responding well. We will see how things go over the next few months.

I've added a few additional pic of the shrimp hoping to get a response. Anyone know?
