Is this normal behaviour for a new clownfish?

Well I just fed them. The black one ate like a pig, probably because he hadnt eaten anything in like 4 days. Wish the orange one was as greedy as him...

I still have no idea what was wrong with him, and I really don't think the freshwater dip accomplished anything, but we'll never know I guess. Oh well. Here's to hoping it was just a one time thing.

Alright final update on the clowns:

Fed them some flake and pellet foods today and both ate, though the black one was a lot more greedy, which is good, I suppose?

The black clown is still breathing fast, but not fast enough to be of concern. He's also not gasping for breath like he was.

I think (hope) it's safe to say that whatever was going on has passed and they're going to be alright. *phew*

I cycled the tank from 1.0ppm ammonia down to zero, and from research it seems most fish/corals/inverts wouldn't produce anywhere close to that amount of ammonia per day even combined.

What about corals? I was always under the impression that they're much more sensitive to ammonia than fish, or am I wrong there too?

Good idea. I will do that just in case.
Whether fish produce ammonia or not. .
Is the system mature enough to process ammonia to nitrates ?
Being only 2 weeks old it might have cycled but I don’t think it’s strong enough to process the new additions along with a death

what corals did you get ?
chances are, they might fade away .....

Yes there's definitely enough bacteria established to fully process all ammonia produced. I tested the water this morning before the water change: ammonia at zero and nitrates hovering around 5. I'm also still dosing Microbacter7 just in case; it's probably not necessary, but I have some left over from the cycle and it expires 6 months after opening, so I might as well.
