I bought a pair of clownfish about 3 days ago, one of them did not do too well and passed away, however this one was fine and even ate, but today it started swimming weird like how the other clownfish was before it passed, maybe this is normal but does not seem so to me. I added a video below. Parameters: Ammonia, trates, and trites are 0. temp 78-79. Sal 1.024. The damsel seems to be doing fine and eats pretty good, the clown did not eat today.

Kinda looks like he's getting blown around by the pump / wave maker

Edit: also, three fish is a lot to add to a brand new tank that is that small. Go slow.

I thought so too but there is no wavemaker in the tank. Just the fluval evo stock pump. Should I redirect the flow another way? maybe

If its just the return pump the fish should be able to get away from flow that is too strong for it.

The not eating today is not a good sign. Did it eat before?

It eat yesterday, not a lot but it did eat a couple flakes, does not seem to be interested in pellets. I turned off all lights for now to see if that somehow helps.

I had trouble getting my clown to eat at first. Flakes were what got it eating. If it likes flakes, feed flakes.

Ok, I already fed today but I guess I could try again later. Or should I just try feeding him now?

This fish is Moribound meaning in a weakened state and will likely not eat.
When was last time it ate?
Is fish breathing heavy or normal?
Any haziness to its skin color as in faded ?
Lethargic behavior is evident. Lower flow rate for starters.

Seems to be normally breathing, I cant lower the flow on the return pump (no wavemaker). It ate yesterday. There is some decoloration looks washed out a little bit if you get really close/white-ish color but not like ich or brook. Should I turn the filter off?

just a little bit of an update, tried feeding, did not work, removed flakes from the tank. The clownfish been biting the surface for the past 30 mins or so. Maybe a lack of oxygen? the damsel still normal, just chilling around rocks.

I moved the filter outtake in a way it one creates better surfaces movement to the left and the other one to the right pointing upwards to try and create a cascade-like effect to allow more oxygen in the water. Hopefully it does something the water noise is making me go crazy

he stopped swimming but still alive, I think its too late. This sucks man

Ammonia still 0, upon examining the fish he had a lot of white decoloration, not sure if it might have been a disease like velvet. I guess I did overstock but I dont understand why my ammonia and others are 0. So frustrating man I dont even exactly know what is wrong. hopefully the damsels stays right.

Hey so hows your tank doing? Your brand new tank with the yellow tail damsel and clown fish gives me nostalgia.
The only problem i think you might have is what happened to me. I had the yellow tail damsel in the tank first, then when i added a pair of clown fish, one of the clown fish and damsel went at it, almost to the death. So i had to take out the damsel QQ. damsels should be added last in the tank since they are aggressive.

I had the damsel until a couple of days ago, it sadly passed away due to ph drop to 7.5 randomly. It was weird since I have some hermit crabs that are still doing well even after that. Just today I added a pair of clowns and shrimp. I don’t want to jinx anything, but they seem to be doing well. Just now I fed the fish and one of the clowns ate but just a little bit. Both shrimp ate and one is regaining color (it was transparent when it got here). The only thing that worries me is that one clown is extremely active and the other one is not active at all, just swimming besides a rock and did not eat at all. Parameters seem to be in check. Ph a little low but stable. The damsel was doing well when I ordered these clowns but he passed away and it was too late to cancel the ordered. I stayed until 3 am trying to find a fix for ph. Added an airstone and opened windows in my room to raise it. Unfortunate that I could not cancel or delay the order to fix it completely, but I am trying my best. Thanks for checking in :)
