Hey,

Please take a look at this picture and let me know if this is normal.

I bought this Acro a few months ago. It's been doing well. Purple and greenish. Began to encrust on the rock, but I'm noticing the outer purple layer is starting to peel off but under that is a greenish skeleton, not white so I don't think it's RTN or STN. It's still encrusting. I forgot the name of it so I cant research it . I Just wanted to know if this is normal.

Thanks

Alk at 10
That coral looks close to dead. The green is algae growth. What are your parameters?
Alk at 10
Cal at 460
Nitrate 5
Phosphate at 0.04

All stable. It's been happening slowly for a few weeks and the encrusting hasn't stopped. Should I toss it or wait it out?

There’s a lot of green algae on the rocks. How old is the tank. All those sps look super brown and unhappy. Are you using rodi? I’d be surprised if your nutrients are actually that low

Yup. Using Rodi.

Thank is 1.5 yrs old but started keeping Acros about 5 months ago.

I just remembered, I was out of town for a week and when I got back the ato reservoir ran out and the salinity spiked from 1.025 to 1.028. I remedied the problem though. Do you think that ticked off the corals and this one is slowly dying?

It is unlikely your salinity that caused this. I see quite of green algae on your rocks. Your nutrients may be high but just being absorbed by the algae.

SPS likes stable parameters. How often do you test your numbers? Can you share your other previous tests?

What other livestock/ corals do you have in your tank that is doing well or not too well?

Do you have a whole tank picture?

I think you're right about the algae taking up all the nutrients. I test nitrate and phosphate every week before and after water change. I change about 25% weekly because I feed heavy

Everything has been in check. Nitrate at 5, phosphate.04. Things have been pretty stable. Wouldn't it stop encrusting and turn white if something was wrong?
Increase nitrate to sat least 10, even 15
Assure alk not elevated and calcium is not low and temperature not elevated

I see other sps in tank
Are they doing okay or are they also looking bad?

Yeah forgot to mention high temp or even swings can make sps unhappy.
