right now i am cycling my first tank. My amonia is at zero, but my nitrites levels have been five+ ppm for a few weeks now. Is this normal?

There can be some offset in the values early on as things get sorted out. Have you been dosing any sort of cycle-starter product?

Could be a test error. However, nitrites aren't harmful to fish. If anything get a second test from LFS on ammonia and nitrites to confirm.

Went and got my water tested at the fish store. I guess i hadn’t been dosing enough amonia and have to start over. At this point i’m just gonna buy some quick start stuff
