Hey everyone, I’ve been running my tank about 6 months now, the waters been cloudy almost the whole time, anyways I run the icecap k1 nano skimmer but my skimmate is like an orange color. What’s up with that???
I do use some filter pads I cut up and place on top of my media baskets, I don’t know what micron they are. As far as dosing nothing as of yet. I feed mysis shrimp every other day since it’s a smaller tank and only 2 fish I don’t add too much food and net out what they don’t eat.
Not normal but can be associated with the food youre feeding. What foods do you feed? Colored flakes would be a culprit.
If not food, possible silicates or rust from water especially if youre using well water. Add carbon to your system. May very well break down the substance causing this.
The cloud is white in the water. I’m fairly sure it’s bac bloom I do use carbon but don’t think it’s being very effective cause it’s in mesh bags. I was thinking about picking up the im nano reactor. As far as food I pretty much only use mysis for now. Picky royal gramma wouldn’t eat the pellets. And I am not using well water and I am using rodi water.
Looks like its skimming too wet. I'd try carbon and adjust your skimmer if you can. It is almost like the water level is too high and its not adjusted correctly.
