The mouth on mine looks different than the pictures I’ve seen. Is this normal behavior or is the coral trying to tell me something?

I could’ve ate something, I’d check back in a an hour or so.

I’ve had this coral for a couple weeks. Has pretty much looked like the picture. Except today, appears that the mouth is open. Usually not a good sign for some corals.

As far as I know it hasn’t eaten anything today.
Thank you for your time

Really starting to worry now.

Ok, thought maybe it was getting bleached. Even If I’m able see the skeleton through the skin? I did highlight with my flashlight to get a better pic to show.

If you saw this specimen at a shop looking like this, would you buy it?

@reef squad need more opinions please.
Thank you

It takes time for corals to acclimate to your lights.. did you light acclimate it? Gradually giving it more light while moving it to your desired location ? Or just placed it in that spot? Placement and differences in your tank to your LFS tank parameters need an adjustment period as well.

@Fishy212 bought coral at beginning of March and acclimated sort of. Black box led on a 20 long. I put coral off to the side and out of direct light. I’ve heard that Frogspawn don’t need tons of light so I left it on the edge this whole time. I don’t think my light are turned up to high, I think I’m at %25 or a tad more on blue and maybe 10% on white. Hard to tell with the nobs the exact output.
My light was centered over tank, about a week after adding the Frog spawn I off centered my light for my other coral to get more light. Frog spawn I moved to the less light side.

thank you for your help

DEFINE NORMAL IN THIS HOBBY . . . LOL
Yes, common especially after it has ingested food.

Small update
Went to the shop I got it from and looked their light setting and took a measurement for height. Them, 100% blue and whites at 30%. I’m no where near that. So it’s not getting too much light.

You guys think I should move it to get more light? I’m gun shy, I’ve cooked corals before!

Armor of the Gods Zoa is growing like crazy. This hobby is confusing sometimes!

I think you’re ok, the body and tentacles are full which is a good indicator. I‘ve had to move mine (about that size) several times to find a spot that provided perfect flow and lighting. Ultimately it‘s mid level with light flow whereas my Torch and Frogspawn like heavier flow. Yes, it’s confusing...

Update: I decided not to move it and just observe for any change. Now growing new heads and color looks much better. Only change is dosing Neophos for Po4. Still reading low but better than 0.
