Was just in my tank placing a few new corals and this zoa (I have had in there for going on a year) closed up because I got too close! But I just noticed all this white fibrous stuff under all the heads.

Is this anything to be concerned with?? I don't see it under the other zoas in my tank and don't recall seeing it on this one before.

It's a type of sponge. I had it under my orange bam bam colony. Eventually it will go away but if it annoys you and starts to mat over the zoas I would use tweezers to pull it off. I did that in my tank and I haven't seen it back. It comes off in a mat very easy to remove just don't let little peices drift around your tank.

I tried to pull it off this morning, but couldn't really get a hold on it. So I was thinking about using a small toothbrush to brush it off and just hope the filter grabs most of it. It appears that some of that zoa are not opening fully so I think it is causing an issue.

Can you remove the rock? They stick to the zoas so I don't think brushing would help just make the issue worse by spreading it around your tank. Best course of action would be tweezers that are sharp and have a good grip.
