I know most of the tanks are dosing differently.
My tank had been running for 6 months already. I've a 140 gallons (48x24x28) with 40 gallons breeder sump. I've stock mostly Sps some Lps & zoas. Most of the Sps frag had encrusted but grown was slow, Acans Scolys & zoas doing very good. Chalice some are going good & some not that good. I ran a calcium reactor most of the level are good but dont know why the tank need a lot of Mag. I've to dose it daily at 75ml. Right now I've some hairy algae going on right now. I've used Prodibio Bio digest & BioTim for the first 3 months but I slowly cutting it back. The only thing that I add in the tank 4 drops of Lugol every other day. Just wonder if any reefer had this happen.
Cal- 450
Mag- 1350
Alk- 9-10
Phosphate- 0.03
Nitrate- 5-10
Ph- 8.3 day -8.0 night

Mag is the slowest to be used so unless your have a lot of fast growing sps and clams you shouldn't have to add a lot of magnesium. What brand of salt are you using? Have you tested your newly mixed saltwater for magnesium?

I'm using Tropic Marin Bio-Actif for two months now before was H2Ocean. I've around 50+ Sps frags two clams some zoas & acans. My calcium-450 & Alk-9 level are stable. I have no idea why my tank using to much mag wonder where it's go to. Just did the mag test it was at 1350 and I'm dosing the mag daily at 75ml. No I didn't test the new salt mix for mag. I'm going to do that in the next water change.
