LFS said I could add one of their wet rocks already with coraline and a few cups of wet substrate and my 90 gallon would be ready for a couple fish. Is this ok to cycle my tank this way? I don't want to stress the fish if that amount of bacteria won't be enough

Did you buy your test?
Ammonia test in the beginning you need.
API is good and cheap for NH3/NH4+.....

I don't even have water in my tank yet. Just getting as much info as possible. Wasn't sure if the bacteria on the wet items would really be enough for 2 fish

It’s a good start but highly unlikely it would be enough to cycle your tank. I would definitely give it a few days and test your parameters. What else are you using for filtration?

If you want to add the fish quickly look into something like ATM Colony it cycles the system straight away pretty much. I don’t think for one minute what the LFS has given you and told you is sufficient

There are others as well, but I’ve used this twice with great success. It does exactly what it says.

If you don’t then you need to ensure the system is cycled to remove any ammonia before adding fish.

This is just my opinion, if you have an rodi unit fills her up, if not buy some distilled water from store. live sand not needed using live sand speeding up the cycle? Debatable. Use dry rock, keeps pests out so it doesn't leave you guessing what's in the aquarium. And finally I put a raw shrimp in my tank for 2 days, took it out and waited a month for my tank to finish it's cycle naturally, but if you don't want to wait that long purchase "Dr tims one and only" your tank will be cycled and fish ready it probably less then a week. Sorry I just typed a big blob of words just trying to get the information out :)

I'm not in a hurry. Rather do it right. That being said I'm going with the way Lasse and Paul B do it. I'm not trying for an immune tank.

Dry for the most part. I will be adding a small amount of wet rock and wet substrate from 2 different LFS to get additional hitchhikers and bacteria
