It’s hard to tell for sure. It maybe ok. How old is the tank?
The guy who sold it to me said 5 years and then sent me pictures that were taken in 2013-2014 so I am thinking around 8-9 years old...It’s hard to tell for sure. It maybe ok. How old is the tank?
Mostly see my finger through the silicone. It isn't moving to much. Do I need to replace the rim if I do that? My dad says it is fine and would trust it in his house...Do I see the silione moving along with your finger? if so- No good. Will have to be resealed first thoroughly cleaning the entire glass on both sides, cleaning with alcohol and applying Black aquarium SEALANt, such as aqueon sealant.
It should be ok. I am personally leery of older/ used tanks. But that’s just me.Mostly see my finger through the silicone. It isn't moving to much. Do I need to replace the rim if I do that? My dad says it is fine and would trust it in his house...
I have done well with used but this tank has definitely been some work.It should be ok. I am personally leery of older/ used tanks. But that’s just me.
That's exactly what my dad says. The first part at leastNormally that part of the silicone isn't what holds the tank together, but it would be cause for concern because what ever caused that to pull away could also be the reason for a leak to start.
Ok thanks. Not sure if I want to risk it yetIF youre going to risk it, although not advised, Run a fresh bead of sealant overlapping the existing sealant to assure bonding.
I thought silicone doesn't stick to silicone?IF youre going to risk it, although not advised, Run a fresh bead of sealant overlapping the existing sealant to assure bonding.
