Is this okay to do when moving a tank?

I am planning on selling my main tank and I have a large piece of rock work that I plan on saving for the new owner, and I want to remove it ahead of time into a holding tank. I was thinking of using a brute trash can or some other plastic tote, what would be best?
And what would I need to have in the storage container until I am ready to move the tank? Is a heater and power head good enough to keep the rocks alive? Also would appreciate recommendations for storage containers, rectangular shape and ones that are safe for saltwater. thanks

Yeah you can through it in a temporary storage "tank".

I used these 27 gallon totes from Home Depot. You can double them up for extra security/strength, though one will probably work for a short term solution.

And yeah I would just throw in a heater and some sort of pump/wave maker.

Yeah I did this when upgrading my tank.

I had a heater and a power head and it will go for months. If longer than a week, I’d feed some food to keep it alive.

If you have corals you need to light it as well
