I couldn’t find the usual SeaKlear product. Is this one safe? It is apparently 9x as strong.

I believe there was an old article about using commercial rated phosphate remover for pool. You'd have to measure and add a few drops into a certain micron filter socks after you measure your phosphate reading from your system prior to this application. A (retired) friend of mine has done this before. Be cautious though.

considering my typical lanthium chloride dose for my 400 gallon system is about 1 ml you would need some serious precision to dose your tank.

unless your tank is the size of a swimming pool. But if it was, you probably wouldnt be seeking this advice.

I would never put something rated for a swimming pool in a fish tank. I would get some GFO.

It’s just that I’m opposed to paying wildly inflated prices for common reef chemicals...

I agree with you there. there are so many things in this hobby that are over priced. However that being said, in my personal opinion the GFO at BRS is at reasonable price, and it works really well. In fact I had to take it off my tank because it pulled all the phosphates out of the water. However, if you do use the stuff rated for pools let us know how it goes.
