Wondering if anyone can tell me if this is pinched mantle or something else? Could be trauma from nipping fish? Rest of clam just seems so healthy. I have had it for about 3 months. Noticed the localized mantle retraction yesterday and no improvement today.

Params:
Amm, Nitrates, NO3: 0
SG: 1.026
Ca: 370-390
dKH: 8
pH: swings from 7.9-8.2
temp: daily swings from 78.5-80.1
do not test Mg

Lighting: T5 2x 10k, 2x actinic (bulbs 7 mo old)

Fish: 2 oscellaris clowns, 1 juvenile hippo tang, 1 6 line wrasse, 1 watchman goby

Inverts: turbo snails, 1 cleaner shrimp, blue hermits

Thanks in advance!

Doesn't look like PM to me. Looks more like it's being irritated by something. Check on it awhile after lights out to see if something is pestering it at night. Otherwise, has the flow changed at all?

Tom

Not sure if it is PM...but if that is red cyano around it, it tells me you should probably move him to a higher flow area.

Thanks for the responses. Can move clam to higher flow area, but yesterday I saw my cleaner shrimp picking at it so I covered it with a fenestrated gatorade bottle. No change in appearance of the clam in 3 days. No GFO; I do run carbon but only a small bag in my filter sock. Am now using a bigger bag and changing it out every 2 days. When should I consider fresh water dip?

Ahh I would keep it in the container for another day and see what happens. I've had shrimp pick at clams before too. If it isn't cleared up in a day then do a 10 min FWD.
