I purchased 3 Lyretail Anthias from my local LFS 2 days ago and placed them in my QT tank for observation. 2 of them are females and one is a female. followed the standard QT protocol of temp acclimation and matching tank salinity to LFS salinity (~1.021)

On the first day, all three ate frozen brine and pellets. I feed them a spoon full every 4 hours just to make sure that they are eating .... but at the same time not causing excess nutrient build up in the QT tank and over-stress the biological filtration. Any left over food is picked up by my reicrulating siphon with filterfloss in it. The recirculating siphon does not run 24/7.

Since last night, the male has stopped eating but was still floating and swimming around the tank with the 2 females. Since the last feeding (about 2 hrs since before this post) he has been hanging around the corner of the tank and I think he has popeye in both eyes. Both females are active and now eating mysis, brine, pellets and flakes.

I think the male has popeye but need confirmation from some experts. He seems to be breathing heavily. See video

QT tank Parameters:
10 Gallon
RO/DI w/ ocean crystals salt salinity at 1.021
0 ammonia and nitrites
25 ppm Nitrates
Aqueon HOB filter without chemical/biological filter (since i started medication, see below)
Thermometer
Heater 50w
500 gph powerhead (currently off)
Seachem ammonia badge

As a precaution, I started Furan, Seachem stress guard (1/2 dose) and Seachem Cupramine (1/2 dose).

Is there anything else i should be watching out for? anything else recommended I should do? what are the possibilities of him making it through?

I'm seeing what you're seeing - bilateral popeye and accelerated breathing.

Of the meds you're dosing, Furan-2 is most likely to be helpful, but Erythromycin and Minocycline have proven to be very helpful in cases of popeye, as well.

Cupramine will help with ich and velvet, but isn't what this fellow seems to need first-and-foremost.

Thank you for the confirmation ..... what is the probability of survival here?

The heavy breathing is more concerning than the popeye IMO. It's probably a good thing you are starting Cupramine. Has this fish already been dewormed with Prazipro or General Cure?

No, I do not have prazipro/general cure on hand. Did not think they needed it since they were eating fine in LFS and on first day at home. this behavior kicked in late today evening, long after the stores started closing for X'mas eve.

He seems to be moving about an inch back and forth but staying in the general vicinity of that spot for the last 3 hrs.

A 5 min FW dip might be advisable to provide temporary relief and check for flukes: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/freshwater-dip.248898/

However, if he's in real bad shape he might not survive the dip. o_O

I am hesitant on the FW dip too. If he makes it through tomorrow ..... it will be a X’mas miracle.

The little fella passed away today. He had a bruise underneath his lateral fin. Thank you all for your help.

I hope it wasn’t uronema it is pretty common right now particularly in anthias. Sorry for your loss :(
