I got a couple corals today, both came from the same tank and were sps. I dipped them both in a strong solution of Revive. One container was mostly clean the other was packed with these. Is this redbug and if so would the revive have killed it?

Its not flatworms I dont think, doesnt have the long body, looks too crunchy.

Looks like a type of flat worm, red bugs are almost invisible to the naked eye. You've really got to stare hard to see them, and sometimes your still not sure at that. Red bugs are smaller then the red dot in that yellow body.

that was taken with a macro pic, when looking at them you cant see the red dot or anything, they just look like a spec of dust to the naked eye, almost like the tiniest piece of gfo you could see, barely bigger than a pinhead

pinhead size, macro lens, You could have the Red bugs. Did they come from the frag swap? First time I've seen that many off of a coral.

This pic will help show how tiny these are, the macro is a bit deceptive.

I have no doubt those are redbugs, they are not that much to worry about you should always dip corals for them but you can use interceptor and rid your tank of them fairly easy if you do it right.

No, I just got them today. Once I saw this I put the frags in seperate container with water from my sump. I guess they wont be going in anytime soon.

You should really get some interceptor and use it as part of your dipping process and you shouldnt have to worry about it.

you need pills zack i got

Yeah for sure, do you have any xanax? Just kidding. I would like to have some for dipping. I used probably 4-6x's the amount of revive they say to use, turned the water white and noticed these in time but for the future it would be good to have them on hand when I dip revive, iodine and flatworm exit.

definately redbugs and a lot of them, I dont think revive kills redbugs. You need interceptor.

100% Correct

I have one interceptor tab wich should treat about 240 gallons of water. My tank is rebug free but it is soon to be sps free as well so i do not see myself needing the pill. I will mail it to you free but your going to need to get some more for future coral additions. PM me if you need the pill. Print out info on them and their treatment and find a vet willing to help.

Zach - those are red bugs, for sure! Oh and if you didn't know already, you might want to keep some interceptor on hand!
<sarcasm off> lol

I heard revive can kill them - 4x+ strength of revive for 20min and they die. Not sure though since I have dogs and use them to get me some pills from the vet ;)

BTW - Just an FYI - Interceptor is a controlled substance, so if somebody has it and somebody needs it, keep it to PM's so nobody gets busted. This is more just so people know and keep that in mind. I'm sure nobody would get busted, but it is still good practice since it is considered a "drug" and needs a Rx from a vet to be purchased.
