Is this starfish reef safe? What kind is it?

Where is it from? So you know? It can be easier to id if you search with a local like Florida etc.
 
That's a big negatory. Red knobby star. Will eat almost anything sessile including corals and sponge.

Actually, in that photo that’s just where he landed after being dumped in the tank... he hadn’t eaten anything..... yet.

The starfish and I gave great consideration to what was said here. We discussed the living situation and what the starfishes expectations were for his new home and just what I was looking for in a starfish. While we agreed that aesthetically speaking we were on the same page, his diet however... well let’s just say we did not see eye to eye. Due to this sticking point, the starfish has been banned from reef life and banished to the Sump Of Horrors where he will live out the remainder of his days.
