Yes that is tissue necrosis. Not sure of the cause, there are a million reasons why. I don’t immediately see any signs of pests so that’s good. But to determine why we would need all info about your tank.

Is there anything I can do to stop it and save the rest of the coral?

Keep an eye on it. It may just be due to shading. I’ve had colonies die where there was shading, but the stn didn’t progress. If you see it progressing, you’ll have to take evasive measures.

Edit: I’d also look for pests at night.

How long did it take for that to happen? Few days? Over night? If it happened rapidly (over night), is there anything you did different (e.g. water change, parameter change, addition of some treatment, etc.)?

It’s happened over about a week or two. I haven’t done anything lately! There is a hydnophora close by! Could it have stung it?

The pattern suggests something other than quarrellings with a neighbor. Can you provide some additional detail on your flow and lighting?

Why is the million dollar question, when 1 coral out of all of them starts to suffer stn, with no apparent reason when nothing has changed and everything is stable. If its not pests i would give it an iodine dip and observe, take pics to have to compare to in a week or so, if it continues your best bet is gonna be to frag off all the remaining good portions. That's just my opinion.

72" length? Asking a lot of a pair of PP-15 regardless; can you add something to supplement flow in the area of the affected coral(s) or is it in an area of stronger flow (e.g. within two feet)? Are the pumps operating at max flow rates?

No it’s a 60” long tank, 24” deep and there running about 60% power.
