Hey guys,

This guys is in my quarantine tank(basic system) has been through a dip.

This tank doesn't have a great light on it and it's almost time to have its second dip before going into the main tank.

Question is should i do the dip and add it for the better lighting? Or is this something I can wait on?

So far I haven't seen any real pests.

That's a goner. Has been a while. The pump will be moving residual flesh.

You have experience with sps?

Params?

I have very few SPS at the moment hence the question. As I said this is a piece in my quarantine system (holding tank for after dips) that I just got a few days ago.

No other pieces are showing any signs of this.

Alright don't kick it. We have all been there.

You need to give us more info to help with this.

The dip itself could be the cause. If shocked too much.

Usually this occurs from bad parameters / insufficient climitsing.

This phase is usually after browning out over a few days.?

You could try to cut a few tips off and glue them to a plug but it looks like it's going to be a complete loss. Putting sps in a qt that has only been set up for a few days is a death sentence to any sps you put in there. You need the qt to be cycled and established.

Let me clarify a little, the qt tank is cycled, i keep media for the QT in my main systems sump.

There were no signs of browning out previously. The dip was three days ago when i picked up the frags, and all other frags in the system seem to be fine and have polyp extension and colouring.

Luke I will try your idea of cutting a few pieces off as the tips appear to have colour still.

My parameters mirror my main system and are as follows

SG 1.025
Alk 7.6
Cal 420
Mg 1300

Definetly rtn not stn and I don't think any of it worth saving. Rtn can be caused by a lot of things and no one really know what cause it. We have all been there. Just throw it away.

RTN and STN stand for ?
Thanks

Alk swing. The tank u bought it from was prolly 8.4 or higher

It's RTN, it's speculated cause is from a vibrio species of bacteria when coral becomes stressed. You can try dipping in iodine solution and possibly frag and re attach to another frag plug. Good luck sorry
