So my sps have looked upset for the past few weeks. I tested all my levels and everything came back where it should
Alk- 7.4
Calcium 420
Mag 1440
Nitrate .25
Phosphate .03

Just for the heck if it I tested copper.
.14!
I tested my ro water thinking my source water was bad, came back 0 twice. Started looking at equipment and found this.
Thoughts??

Yikes that sucks. I would agree that is what it looks like. Poly filter time .

Guess I should look at mine. How old are yours?

I would take the pump apart. Im guessing it has copper coiled around a magnet. Just to confirm that's where the copper is coming from. (Don't tell AI you disassembled it! )
I'm going to wait to hear from them first just incase they're willing to swap it lol.

Hi @Crabs McJones

i agree get that thing out of there. I am not 100% sure that is your copper source. I would think it is rust from the magnet or ferric oxide More than copper. I would run some Cuprisorb or Meta sorb now that the pump is out. After a few days of running the media check the levels again. If it is gone pull the media and check a few days later. If it is still gone it was the nero, if not I would look elsewhere.there may be others things in there Nero though like copper wire that are the issue. Never know.

What’s your maintenance like with these? Soak them in any chemicals ?
I've only had them a couple weeks, I havent done any maintenence on them yet as they're not really dirty yet

Is this where the magnet is? I have seen on my hydors, a collection of rust in the surface where the magnet is. The “rust” wiped off and was not from the pump itself but from the magnet pulling iron out of the water column.

If its a rare earth metal magnet when i have had them exposed to salt water, they almost look like they have exploded.

Ceramic magnets or iron oxide magnets technically cant rust, as they are already rust and fully oxidized. Not sure what the nero uses.

Yep. Mine did the same after 3-4 months of use. Found it on the first cleaning. Yes I used vinegar but that was not the cause of the rusting. It was only in a light vinegar to water mix for a few hours. The whole vinegar damaging pumps to false IME. I have been using it for over a decade to clean pumps and never had an issue with magnets rusting. Magnets rust when not sealed. AIbis replacing the motor under warranty but I had to pay to send it to them.
