I cut out a square of yoga mat to place under my tank as a cushion between the tank and the wood. I am planing on filling the tank up this week, but wanted to make sure the mat wouldn't have any negative effects like cracking the tank or something. Is it safe to use?
(The grey strip between the tank and the wood is the mat)

I've seen may people do that with the pink insulation board. It's for the reason you say you worried. It helps level so there is no stress on the tank.

Hi, I've personally used high density foam camping mat under a tank in the past without any problems, actually thinking about it I've got a 30x15x12 inch full of salt water and live rock that I'm curing at the moment that's on camping mat and no issues with cracking, just make sure that the framework for the tank is level front to back and side to side so that you get no twisting of the tank and it'll be fine.

Personally, I have never used any kind of matting or material besides wood under my tanks. It has never been a problem for me. So you should be fine with a yoga mat. I actually really like the idea and will consider incorporating it. ;Happy
