Hi everybody, im an absolute noob at reeftanks, so plz bare with me.

I just got my first corals yesterday, its the only thing inthere, so until yesterday it was clean.
I added 3 different soft corals, and now my sandbottom is covered with some brown/green "something"...

Is that normal residue from corals or is it the beginning of algies?

so i should get my clean up crew now, even without any fish in tank ?
How new is the tank?
I got my cuc before any fish, as long as there is something to eat they will do fine.
i can get the snails, but the pistol shrimps are out of stock atm. can the snails do the trick?
Just snails are fine provided you have enough.
Pistols are just a fun creature to own, and pair with shrimpgobies to build a burrow together. The added bonus is the sand sifting.

i bought it Sep. 3rd, filled it with water about 3 weeks ago, gave it time to settle, and put in the corals yesterday.

Does it have to be pistol shrimps, or will Scarlet skunks do the trick? those i can get

Pairing with gobies is specific to pistol shrimps (tiger and candy cane). Scarlet skunks will not, but are very good for other purposes.
Definitely old enough for hardy inverts like astrea snails, nassarius, emerald crabs, and hermits.

its a 200l tank, as mentioned with only 3 soft corals,
will this package:
do the trick, both the problem i seem to have no, and for long term maintenance?

You can keep a lot more.
Sally lightfoots are known to attack fish, emerald is safer (but may mess with coral if you get a bad one).
I would have at least 20 hermits and even more snails if you want to see them actually l it a dent in anything.

I didn't add a shrimp for a bit. I went with 5 each margarita, turbo, and cerith snails, and just added 5 nassarius snails today. I've also added 5 each of a couple of species of hermit crabs. You don't want to get more than your bioload needs right now, otherwise, they may starve unless you're specifically feeding them. I've been ramping up my CUC as I've increased my bioload.

Good advice here. I was thinking too long term. Best to start small so nothing starves.

would this:
be better?

And i see that the shop has Tiger Snapping Shrimps, i assume thats the ones you mentioned earlier sharkbait, if i add a few of those to 1 of the above packages?

You only need 1 pistol shrimp. Tiger is the one.
I’d hold off on echinoderms for now (stars, urchins, cucumbers), they need very established tanks to survive.
Best to head down to the lfs and see what they have.
I’d say about 1 emerald crab, 10 hermits, 10 nass snails, and 10 astreas is a good start. All of the above are very widely available. Tiger Pistol shrimp is harder to find, but get it if you find it.

i ordered some of me cleaning crew:

the first package i linked + 2x Electric blue hermit crab, 1Tiger Snapping Shrimp, 4x nass & 4 astreas...
Its not at much as you said, but im also worried to get too many..

Does this sound all bad?

Those are all perfect. Good starting size for inverts. I started small and added over a few weeks/months until I have what my current cuc is. Obviously too many can starve themselves.
I will warn you about the tiger, they really move around the sandbed and mess things up, but it’s so fun to watch. Just make sure to feed the tank as you need to.

I think that sounds like an appropriate size CUC for where you're at!

Great, hope they can clean up my mess :P thanks for the help so far.. my next problem is just to find some shells those hermits... Seems i cant get them at "my" store

And about my sandbed shark, its ok its their home :)
btw my 2nd picure was about 24 hours later than my 1st.. so i might agree, i need my CUC fast .
