Is this spider web thing bad?

I’m having trouble figuring out what this exactly is.... algae? Bacteria? Sponges? Those worm thingys? I can post better pictures tomorrow. (Tired of googling and don’t wanna wake up my fishies)


seems like overnight spiders made webs...

New reefer here - that coral was a present from my LFS employee, it’s a type of Sinularia, it was one of the trimmings from their corals that got too big and he told me to try and put it in my tank to see if my tank is ready for corals. I’ve also heard some corals have some type of secretions? Could it be that?

To me it looks like slime that corals give off sometimes - I've got lots of LPS and i see that on occasion!

I’ve been looking for a tube and didn’t really see one. The coral looks like it was the most attacked. I’ll check tomorrow if it had spread overnight. I’ve noticed also around the intake of my powerhead having that white ish stringy/slimey stuff/spider web stuff (which is is on the right) so I don’t think it’s coming from the coral unless making strings counter-current?

I’m super new and clueless so I could be wrong

I did look it up but I found nothing in my tank that could look like it (other than what seems to be dead ones on the dry rocks I’ve gotten) which were dry for months before I got them
