I’m thinking about buying this to mix with RODI water to make my own phosphate additive. My phosphate runs at 0.01ppm and I have no algae in the tank. My mangroves seem to be sucking it up like crazy! Is this the right stuff to buy?

It is sold for aquariums so one would hope that it is good. But I recall the major premium dog food companies using the toxic additive from China.

Never a good assumption, especially if intended for freshwater planted tanks.

That is the compound I use. A little goes a very very long way.
Thanks i have purchased this one yesterday, i posted on a few different pages and a lot of people said they used it

There are many suitable forms. That one is likely fine, although I cannot tell on the purity.

If you haven't yet bought one, I might look for a food grade, like this one:

I am not sure on purity but i purchased the green leaf product yesterday and have also sent out an email asking about what grade it was and if it was food grade

Just received this email back from Green Leaf

"Hi,

All dry salts we carry are lab or hydroponic grade. The only “food grade” we carry is caso4.
Green Leaf Aquariums, LLC"

so i should be good on purity with the Green leaf product i ordered right? isnt lab grade better than food grade?

@Randy Holmes-Farley I'm having the same problem with low phosphates with no algae. What would the mixture rate on something like the green leaf product?

Neither of those grades have any generally recognized purity requirement. It’s not a useful comment for us. It may be fine, but it might not.
