Ok I tested my new tank last night and my current Mantis Tornado 500gal (2000lph) DC return pump on the highest setting wasnt causing a level drop in the sump. There was also very little skimming action on the surface. My tank is 90x45x45cm (36x18x18") and the sump is 50x35x35 (20x14x14). I am running a 3/4" return and an 1" drain through an ghost over flow box. I have about 5' of straight pipe, 6 x 45* unions and 2 flow through Tees that will be feeding a chiller and ATS. I could adjust the wier height and gate valve return to get a nice tank level, overflow level and silence. However there was little skimming, no level drop in the pump chamber. My fav lfs is out of 4000lph pumps but has a 6000lph. I have been searching all morning to try to find the min lph on setting 1 but no luck. I did find the syncra sdc66 had figures of 530-1450gph... i know this is a leap of faith but the other pump should be in the ball park of these figures i am guessing. On the lower setting it will be more economical to run.
Thoughts is the 6000 too big, I know it is but the better question is will it work
Cheers

If it fits in the sump space and is underwater when it starts pumping then it will be ok.
