It's 530 GPH in an 8 gallon

I plan on getting a zoa on Saturday, so I will be able to see if it is too much

That's turning over the water in your tank over 65 time per hour. IMHO that probably too much flow unless everything it your tank will be sps corals. I think even lps corals might struggle a bit at that rate. Typical turnover rates range from 20 at the low end to around 40 at the high end.
