Hello R2R torch experts (or anyone else who might have an answer):

This torch does not look good, at all. This happened quickly over a matter of 3-5 days. It has been in my tank for several months and although it never seemed to thrive completely, it never closed completely, let along like this.

Although some other corals in my tank aren’t “perfect,” they seem generally happy—SPS, LPS (several happy hammers), and softies.

The pics were taken this afternoon, but I turned the blues down to take the torch pic. The white spots are sand and the torch looked like this before the RLH decided to bother it.

Dead? BJD? Poop?

RSR 300XL (85G total before displacement)

Alk, Ca, Mg (Trident) consistent at 9, 500, 1300

Temp: 78-79

NO3 (Hannah): 3.3

PO4 (Hannah): 0.08

Well, assuming “he’s dead, Jim” anyone have any thoughts on what could have been the cause? At this point, I’m just curious if I should be looking for anything that could spread.

Everything else in your tank looks healthy. In case it is BJD or something that can spread, use a paper towel to wrap and scoop it out.

I've found that my small torch frags do better in the rocks than the substrate, but they're also Indo torches.

Wow. Thank you. Still relatively new to the hobby (about a year), so that’s incredibly appreciated and encouraging!!!
