I just lost a sailfin tang and a chocolate tang in QT. They died within 3 hours of eachother.

I have one lonely clown goby in the tank and he isn't doing well. Here's a pic I snapped of him:

All three fish were purchased 9 days ago and put into a clean, 40 gallon QT tank with seeded sponge filter, heater and powerheads. I didn't medicate them at first.

The Sailfin was swimming around normally and eating yesterday morning, eating like a pig even. Then last night he started to be more reclusive. The chocolate tang was reclusive from the start but got worse over the last week. The clown goby was eating like a pig but all it's done for the past 2 days is hide.

The sailfin and chocolate tang didn't have any obvious outward physical symptoms, at least that I could tell.

I'm terrified that it's velvet and the QT tank cross contaminated my DT somehow.

The spots look a little small for ich so my guess would be velvet or perhaps he just got into some sand?

Let’s get some more experienced eyes on this. #reefsquad

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. So I'm 95% sure it was velvet and unfortunately, the last little clown goby died. I dosed the tank with 60mg/gallon of Chloroquine as soon as the second fish died but it was too little, too late. Now I get to drain the QT, throw out the filter, bleach/burn everything and pray that I didn't somehow cross contaminate into my DT.

Unfortunately, my DT is full of corals and too large to catch the fish. I think the likelihood of cross contaminating the DT is small but I'll still be worrying for the next few months :(
