Did it have any other “stress” markings at the time? I think full males do get red in that area, so it’s hard to say.

Ok, thanks. I think I may have been worrying a bit too much lol. It doesn't look nearly as bad out of the water. After reading all these horror stories on R2R about disease and problems I'm a bit paranoid

So, it’s been 9 days since I started adding fish back to the tank. I’ve only done a partial restock and added the mandarin, hippo tang, tailspot blenny, tangaroa goby, and leopard wrasse. I’ve noticed these four spots on the tang which make me paranoid it was ich the whole time not velvet, and that I still have an issue.

Hippos are so hard to judge. Die to the fact they constantly go in and out of rockwork and wedge themselves. I never worry about the couple of spots over seen on mine. I have 3 acanthurus tangs and surely if it were parasitic in nature it would be seen on other fish.

@HotRocks thank you! I remember reading somewhere that hippos will sometime get random spots on them that doesn’t mean it’s nrvessarily parasitic. Considering the fish I have re introduced so far I was worried that the tang would be the only one to show a disease and she’s the only one who has spots. I still have the other fish downstairs after my accidental contamination with unknown water from the wrasses. I lost the pintail when I did PP. I even tried to use a gentler dose and went at 2 for the dosage instead of 2.5 per the PP directions. I think the pintail might’ve had some other issues and I noticed what looked like a wound on its head after it arrived. Such a shame to lose a beautiful fish.
As long as you don’t find those spots alarming, I’ll continue to add fish back in a few days. I let the SG creep up a bit in my QT and need to bring it back down
I was also very cautious doing my transfers from copper to sterile tanks and they definitely had 14 days in therapeutic copper. I was researching more last night because I was paranoid and read that the bell curve for ich shows a 95% probability of ich not surviving past 6 weeks fallow, so I’m relatively confident overall, just a little paranoid.
As long as you don’t find those spots alarming, I’ll continue to add fish back in a few days. I let the SG creep up a bit in my QT and need to bring it back down

Hippo tangs can also have reactions to the copper itself. ^ I agree with watch and wait at this point. Maybe give it a couple more weeks before adding other fish back in just in case.

Well, it's been a week and the four spots I saw on the hippo tang have been gone for several days. No spots noted on any of the fish in the tank now. I'm thinking it may have just been a few grains of sand or something? I have a tiger pistol shrimp who constantly stirs up the sand, so my tank water is never crystal clear.

Everything is going well still with the fish, except for the leopard wrasse. Found the remains of it today 
I had noticed a problem with its eyes a few weeks ago and it appeared to be having some difficulty feeding. One pupil was much larger than the other, and the pupil that lens of the eye on the smaller pupil appeared cloudy. I’m not sure if it experienced some kind of trauma or what happened, but it wasn’t like that when it initially went back into the display. Was my oldest surviving fish ;Sorry
