Hi

My Nemo started swimming near the powerhead tonight . I took a video and I can see some white spots on the skin, is that Velvet?

I am thinking to move to the QT and starts copper.....Feeling sad as this is my first fish and getting to 1 year old.

Yes. I do and it's with water right now. I mixed Chloroquine Phosphate in it at the moment. The water and Chloroquine Phosphate has been there for nearly 2 months. I was going to buy a few new fish and QT them for 30 days. But this COVID thing stopped all those.

If I need to replace the Chloroquine Phosphate and replace the entire water, I need at least 24 hours because i need to mix 15 gallons of water. Should I wait 24 hours, or just move the fish now?

Thanks again......

If you can get your hands on ruby reef rally and doing a dip it will help if its brook, you can also use API general cure, humblefish has a great forum explaing all the different uses for these meds. Good luck, hopefully he makes it through.

A freshwater dip, no longer than 5 minutes should help buy some time to set up the QT if you don't have any better. I did this on my fish, and I noticed an immediate improvement, if it's Velvet. Kind of looks like it to me, but could also be brook, I hear Clowns can be pretty susceptible to it. Also heard they don't fair well in copper? But they are dead if you don't anyways.

Freshwater as just RODI and no salt?

I am thinking that I read Chloroquine Phosphate can treat Brooke and Valvet as well. Can I just transfer the fish to this 2 month old water in the QT ( i made it from RODI water, and should be all setup , I have a filter in it too )?

And then tomorrow do a water change , and after the water change put copper ?

I moved him to the QT tank. I checked temperature, PH, Amonia, Salinity..... Then empty 1 pack of API General Cure into the water as well.

Will do a water change tomorrow night and share . I really hope he makes it through.

make sure you follow the instructions in the general cure box its one packet every ten gallons, idk how big your qt is but make sure you follow that.

it's a 15 gallon tank, and I added another 1/3 pack , slightly less than the one pack every ten gallons.

hopefully that helps, I think in 48 hrs you have to repeat the dose, I just recently used it to quarantine one of my new clowns thats why I remember the instructions.

He seems ok for now. Swims ok, I tried to feed the food with soak medication and he ate a few pellets, spit out a few. Not sure if it's the food been too long, I soaked the pellets about a week ago and dried them. They are all dried pellets now. He doesn't swim near the powerhead in the QT. I hope he is feeling better in the QT.

He reminds me when he just came into the QT one year ago that he was swimming straight up on the black side of the tank wall. He is doing that very often just as he came in a year ago.

In the video , he was swimming more normally to me

I may have also found the "root cause". I just tested the TDS in the fresh bucket that I store RODI, and it's reading 5....... I then tested the fresh RODI output, it reads 0.... I haven't tested this for about 2 months. Really sad.

I am dumping the saltwater and cleaning both buckets now.

while that may definitely affect it, I dont think as its the culprit as the TDS level doesnt usually affect anything unless its past 10.

He seems better , swims faster, and I believe he still has something on his body though it seems to get better or maybe because the light on the QT makes it hard to see.

Thank you all. I really hope he makes it through.

I have been doing about 10 Gallon water change weekly in the main tank for many months already. I still don't know what was wrong.

In this recent issue, I lose one coral , a birdsnest coral. All other LPS and SPS seem to be ok ( about 20 ). I have 5 snails only and they all seemed struggle at one point.

The main tank still has an Algae outbreak and I am planning to only keep up water change and manual remove algae for now.

Cleaned all the buckets yesterday and the water change stations big buckets. The freshwater still read 0 TDS after collecting two big buckets.

I am doing CP in a QT tank of 15 gallon. The main tank is 50 Gallon and I haven't done any medication. It has algae outbreak and Cyano probably Diagtom. I will take a video tonight of the main tank.

The snails are all "recovering" , they are better now though not 100%. The tank is 1 year old.
