Is two months enough to kill ich??

In regards to maintaining the display fallow, the recommended time frame is roughly 72 days I believe.

Honstly I don't think so I had my tank fallow for 60 days when I put my purple tang in he got ich but it's going through it I guess so I had a conclusion that there is a small chance to have a tank with ich free if u check YouTube reef tanks videos would see most of the expert reefers having ich in there system.

@Humblefish recommends 76days, 72 days is the longest documented time for the cysts to erupt, plus a couple days to be sure is 72 days since they encysted and won't have a host for a couple days after they erupt.. It is possible there are strains that take longer, but no study has discovered one yet

With the right treatment and at least 76 days fallow you should be good on the Ick free but as always no guarantee

No and in fact I may have come across a strain 76 days didn't work for. I can't be sure as I may have cross contaminated.

The variable here is the Tang. They're far more prone to ich than almost any other species. It's possible you had killed off the Ich that was in your display, but the new Tang brought some in with him.

I don't have tangs. I only have clownfishes, chromis and dottyback.

Agreed isn't this just giving one life to try and spare another?
In a way yes but would be the best way to test due to them being disease free, but I think they could also harbor a disease and not show signs like other fish. Best thing to do is wait it out, 2-3 more weeks isn't long considering its already been roughly 60 days.

If drip acclimated slowly, the black mollies should all survive. If they "pop positive" for a disease (ich, velvet, brook), converting them back over to full FW would clear it. I understand its less than ideal due to the moral implications; but in a practical sense, better to use a couple of $2 black mollies as guinea pigs than hundreds or thousands of $$$ worth of SW fish.
