Is Uv light from my reef light dangerous

So I know that exposure to UV light causes skin cancer. I was wondering if exposure to the uv lights on our reef lights can cause adverse health effects t to humans, or if they aren’t really true UV

I don’t know if anyone knows for sure the exact spectrum of their lights are outputting, and if there is any UV in it.

The answer is yes. There are some hazards. True actinic may have a spectrum that can cause Irreversible retina damage.
I avoid these lights. I also am skeptical about other blue lights that don’t have warnings. I take my chances and try to block overspill into the room and sheild the visual view of the bulbs themselves with a canopy or piece of material. I do not know who regulates the warnings on the packaging (see attached)

No. You have nothing to worry about, unless u decide to use the led light for something it was not intended.

Yeah I would think it is safe since the only LED near UV is the Royal Blue and if the spectrum they are showing is correct your just above the edge of UV. It's still not a good idea to point them directly at your eye but fine for illuminating the water.

There is only a hint of UVA in most reef lights. UVB is the one that does quite a bit of damage to the skin and is what tanning beds use (also reptile lights). From the perspective of UV and skin cancer LED lights are just not going to be a danger, especially as not many of us hold our limbs directly under them, and again, even if we did it's not deep enough in the UV range to be UVB. Even with tanning beds and reptile lights you have to be pretty close to the light as the intensity drops off quickly. Many reptile basking lights which are specifically designed to output UVB need to 12" or less (depending on the light) for enough UVB to be utilized by the animal.

On a 5G, it will work however keep in mind that 5G saltwater tanks extremely limit inhabitants and corals are virtually impossible to keep as parameters will change very rapidly.
In saltwater the consistency and stability of the water is paramount.
You will need to be constantly testing all 8 parameters.
