Just gave my skimmer its first deep cleaning after about 20 months of service, because it was acting funky .pretty safe to say this was the problem!! Lol

Lou Dog,
That would do it.

I keep a check on my skimmer's intake venturi all the time. Crystallizes and hardens up like that real quick.

If I start to need to adjust the down pipe. I check the air intake first thing :)

Mines been running about 10 months now and just about an hour ago starting overflowing the cup. Guess its time to give it a cleaning and start checking hoses and intake more often.

Thanks for the advice, my first tank so I'm still learning.

I was kinda relieved when I saw it cause then I knew exactly what the problem was. I removed it yesterday and ran it for about 30 hours in straight vinegar, still didn't clear that blockage.

Yeah I clean mine once a year at best, or whenever it starts to mess up. Not real on top of that!

So I got time to take mine out and clean it real good. Mine had what looked like a little spider web built up in the top of the silencer.
